The Covid-19 vaccination roll-out started today and amongst one of the first recipients was a 103-year-old Bridlington lady.

Hilda Thompson attended Practice 3 at the Station Avenue Medical Centre to receive her injection from pharmacist Jaya Authunuri with healthcare assistant Sarah Blackburn in attendance.

Said Hilda:”I was glad to have the injection so I can safely be ready to meet up with my family and friends in the near future.”

She added: “The appointment was very well organised and all the staff were lovely and very cheerful.”

Mrs Thomson’s daughter Paula, who escorted her mum to the appointment, also remarked how efficient and well run the roll-out had been on the first day in Bridlington.

Mrs Thomson formerly owned Thomson’s Hardware on Quay Road which is now run by her son Ian.
