Great work from our local volunteer coastguards… an often overlooked part of the emergency services.
Here are the details.
Team tasked by Humber Coastguard to report of an injured person on the beach at Thornwick Bay, Flamborough.
The team arrived on scene and carried out a medical assessment on the casualty. It was established that for extraction a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter would be the most appropriate method to get the casualty into onward medical care quickest. The team cleared the immediate area and prepared the casualty to be winched.
Rescue helicopter 912 took the casualty to hospital. We wish them a speedy recovery.
Also in attendance was the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
