The volunteer run Kingfisher Café on West Street in Bridlington received funding over the festive period to purchase Christmas gifts for local homeless people and low income families as part of the Sizzling and Carling Community Action campaign.
The campaign is a local initiative that sees Carling support a range of local community projects across the UK.
Nominated for support by the local Sizzling pub, The Friendly Forester on Martongate, the Kingfisher Café has been able to provide a variety of essential Christmas gifts to over 50 vulnerable people in the area, including shoes, tents, rucksacks and warm weather clothing.
The gift items were wrapped by Café volunteers and presented to their clients on Christmas Day. In addition to the Christmas gifts, the funds have been put towards a new security system for the Café premises as well as vital food supplies, which will aid their regular hot meal services.
Funding will have a lasting impact on the Bridlington community, with the gifts especially showing local homeless people that they aren’t forgotten, particularly when the weather is so unforgiving.
