Can you help Sweetie…?
A Bridlington based charity is appealing for kind-hearted cat lovers to help with an urgent appeal for one of their rescue cats.
Purr-fect Pals Rescue cared for two-year-old Sweetie after she was rescued in August last year. She was heavily pregnant and gave birth to eight kittens, six of which survived.
Theresa Stokes, who is one of the volunteers at Purr-fect Pals Rescue, explained. “When the kittens were three-weeks-old she had gone off her food so once again we took her to the vets where it was discovered she needed surgery immediately. The kittens had to be bottle fed and kept separate from their mum.”
She continued: “Ten days later Sweetie started the choking cough again, started to lose weight and sounded horrendous with her coughing. The swab results came back and showed an extremely nasty bacterial infection which is resilient to most antibiotics apart from one, so she was started on it straight away.”
“The infection cleared, but sadly not the mucus or the choking cough, and she was diagnosed with chronic rhinitis. She had numerous other drops, powders and potions but she is no better.
She is currently on a second steroid injection and a tablet to make her hungry because she is so bunged up she goes off her food and therefore loses weight (4kg to 3.6kg in a week ) said Theresa.
Up to press the GoFundMe Appeal has raised around £1,500 towards Sweetie’s treatment.
She added: “Our last option is a referral for a CT scan and biopsy at a specialist vets to see if there is anything stuck that has been missed.
This is going to cost £2500 to £3500, but after everything this poor girl has been through we owe it to her…please help us give Sweetie a chance.
