For the new year do you fancy a new challenge? Coastal Voices is an East Coast community choir based in Bridlington that was formed independently in 2013 for people wanting to sing in a choir and have fun.
Sue Dawson, from the Coastal Voices choir said “Membership is open to anyone over the age of 16. There are no scary auditions so if you enjoy singing and making new friends you will be very welcome if you would like to come and give it a try.
“We meet for rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7pm – 9pm at The Spa, Bridlington.”
“The musical director is Alex Weatherhill, and he creates all the unique musical arrangements along with easy to follow sheet music and recorded vocals. The tunes can be practised at home as well as at rehearsals with the group. Alex’s wonderful creations enable the choir to produce a beautiful harmonic tone in performances.”
The choir charges a modest fee of £5 per session and free taster sessions are available. On joining new members will be given a free T. Shirt and music file.
“We have also started to learn new songs in preparation for the choir’s annual showcase performance in July at The Bridlington Spa.” explained Sue.
“This year it will be called, and based on, ‘Legends of the Sixties’. Come and join us and have some fun.”

Coastal Voices Community choir raise money at their events and concerts for local charities, and throughout 2016 they have raised £1300. The group have chosen to donate this money to the Kingfisher Café.
The Kingfisher Trust Café opened its doors in September 2011 to address the need for the provision of meals and support for the homeless in the Bridlington area.
The Café which is based in West Street, Bridlington is run solely by volunteers who give their time to not only cater for the homeless, but also provide quality meals at excellent prices to the general public.
All proceeds made from the meals or from fundraising is used directly for the homeless, needy and vulnerable in our area.
Along with meal provision they offer practical support, information, bedding, clothing, start up packs for those going into accommodation and a sympathetic, non-judgemental ear.
