The Mayor of Bridlington is urging members of the public to ‘turn out in force’ to commemorate a significant World War 2 anniversary.
A special remembrance service will take place on Saturday 8th June at the town’s War Memorial to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Reverend Matthew Pollard will officiate at the service, with town Mayor Cllr Liam Dealtry in attendance along with mayoral cadet Isobel Waldie and members of the Bridlington Branch of the Royal British Legion along with other dignitaries.
The event starts at 3.pm and all attendees are asked to assemble at 2.45pm. A bugler from the Excelsior Band will be in attendance to play before the lowering and to signal the raising of service standards.
Mayor Dealtry said: “This is an historic occasion that marks the turning point in World War 2. Everyone is welcome to join in and pay tribute and be part of the day that Bridlington pays tribute.”
