A fun-filled programme of events is promised at the Filey RNLI Lifeboat Weekend.
The three-day festival will start on 2nd August and continue on both Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th and will raise funds directly for the Filey station.
Activities start with an afternoon tea being held in the boathouse from 1pm Friday. Members of the crew will be on hand to act as waiters serving teas in traditional cups and saucers and scones with jam and cream.
The annual raft race will take place on the Saturday afternoon from 3pm and teams are encouraged to enter by registering at the boat. A completely new event for Lifeboat weekend will be held beforehand: “wellie-wanging” on the beach. There will also be a static display by the White Rose Goldwing Motorcycle group. Mascot Stormy Stan will also be on scene for photographs.
On Sunday the main event will be the launching of both lifeboats around 1.30pm. Other emergency services will provide static displays.
David Wilson, Chairman of Filey RNLI said: “The RNLI relies solely on donations from the public and every penny that we raise on Lifeboat weekend will go directly towards the running of Filey Lifeboat Station. We look forward to good weather this year and plenty of visitors to help Filey Lifeboat”
