He’s done it again….
Steve Tighe has completed his fifth and final World Tough Mudder event in Atlanta in the USA.
After completing four World Mudder events, Steve who owns Blast Fitness in Bridlington, decided to endure one last challenge in memory of his great friend Peave Bellerby.
“I almost had to end the challenge at the 50 mile point with a long stint in the medical tent suffering from hypothermia.” said Steve, “ But I managed to pull it round and head back out for a further 25 miles as I wanted the coverted 75-mile bib for Peave.”
Steve finished 49th in the world overall and 2nd in the world for his age division.
“Both Dawn (Peave’s wife) and myself are absolutely blown away by the response from the local Bridlington community and friends and family all over the world. In total we have raised around £22,000 which is more than we could have dreamt of.”
Nominated charity recipients are Cancer Research and the Candlelighters Children’s Cancer Charity.
Peave was a popular and well-loved figure around the town. He sadly died of complications arising from cancer at the age of 55 in February this year.
Added Steve: “Our social media presence has gone viral and captivated the whole town with endless comments of love and support for Peave’s family as we honoured his name.”
*The Echo will be running a further in-depth article in the next issue as Steve had just completed the Tough Mudder event as we went to press.
