The events team at Sewerby Hall and Gardens has put together a brilliant set of activities for Halloween taking place over the October half term break. Visitors are advised to book early as the activities are extremely popular.
A Halloween Trail will be running from Saturday, 22 October to Sunday, 30 October when visitors can help Derek the Ghost find all the things he needs for his Halloween party.
On Monday, 24 between 11am and 4pm, children can make their very own creepy puppet in the Orangery, as well as spooky gingerbread decorating in the kitchen and gloopy potion stirring in the Servant’s Hall.
On Tuesday, 25 October, the council’s sport, play and arts team returns between 10am and 12noon with a Halloween-themed spin on their family archery activity. Zombie Archery sees visitors try to hit as many zombies as they can and is free to all with no need to book.
Due to visitor demand, the event team has added an extra date for the very popular Pumpkin Carving activity. Providing all the necessary materials, the sport, play and arts team will be on-site in the Orangery on Wednesday, 26 and Friday, 28 October at 1pm. Places are limited to 20 per session so early booking and pre-payment is essential. The cost is £5 for one child and one accompanying adult.
On Thursday, 27 October, Rusticus Theatre Arts returns with a brand new adventure with a spooky Halloween theme at 2pm, 3.30pm and 5pm. With professional actors, this activity will guarantee craziness and education all rolled into one and will take visitors around the more dark and scary corners of the estate. Standard admission charges apply to the first two events and booking is not required. For the 5pm session the cost is £5 per child including one accompanying adult and payment and pre-booking is required via the Welcome Centre. There will also be free Halloween-themed face painting for all visitors.
Orangery concerts, healthy walks and a Double R Craft fair also take place throughout the holidays.
Admission charges are £6.50 for adults, £4.40 for children and £20 for a family (two adults and two children) and there is no additional charge to attend events and activities unless otherwise stated. Please note that annual pass holders are not exempt to charges for the indicated activities. Booking and payment can be made in person or by calling the Welcome Centre on (01262) 673769. Please be aware that some activities have age limits; visit www.sewerbyhall.co.uk for full details of all the activities.
