The Bridlington Easter Hockey Festival celebrated its 84th anniversary over the Bank Holiday weekend.
After an absence of a couple of years, the Festival w the Mayor of Bridlington, Cllr. Colin Croft along with his consort.
Anne Hunter, the event organiser for many years was over the moon with the revamped event. She said “The weather was absolutely glorious and teams were able to relax in between games and watch the other teams in bright sunshine. All the ladies teams played in fancy dress with Hartlepool Cirque de Callies team dressing as circus members and winning the fancy dress prize.”
She added: “On Friday many of the players played a mixed competition which helped everyone to make new friends. The actual tournament took place on Saturday and Sunday as a 7-a-side matchplay format. The ladies section winners were Super Heroes (Bridlington) and runners up What a Load of Bollards (Barnsley). The men’s winners were Monkey Hangers (Hartlepool) with Bridlington Boys ending up as the runners up. The festival was made more special by having so many of our young players, past and present, supporting the club. Many thanks to the groundsman, bar staff and volunteers who helped make the festival a great success.”
