A Bridlington woman is celebrating after losing half her body weight and achieving a special slimming award.
Sally Jones has lost a life-changing 12-and-a-half-stone (approx 80kg) to win a prestigious Slimming World ‘Club 50’ Award which is awarded to those members who have lost an incredible 50% of their starting weight.
“I’d been overweight for a long time, so I’m so proud and happy to win this award, especially given I continued my weight loss throughout the pandemic. I feel like a new woman since losing weight – in fact, I look so different that people who I haven’t seen for a while often can’t believe I’m the same person. For me though it’s the change on the inside that’s been the greatest – I’m happier, healthier and much more confident now.” explained Sally.
Sally, who have halved her body weight has gone from just under 25st, (160kg) to an jaw-dropping 12-and-a-half stone. (80kg).
Deciding to change her lifestyle In 2019, Sally decided top join Slimming World in 2019. She had been diagnosed a being pre-diabetic ands suffering from, heart palpitations and breathlessness on a constant basis.
And despite several lockdowns due to the pandemic, Sally has kept her determination to achieve her incredible transformation.
“My weight impacted on so many aspects of my life, from struggling to find clothes that I like to fit, to not being able to do simple everyday tasks without feeling tired and out of breath. Now I can keep up with the grandchildren, enjoy long walks and gardening…plus I can run up the stairs!”continued Sally.
“The support I have received from fellow members and the Consultants has been amazing. Everyone is so friendly and they helped me with recipes and tips and if I was ever struggling, they were always there to build me up and remind me why I’d wanted to lose weight in the first place and how far I’d come since first stepping through the doors. And it was so rewarding to support other members who needed a boost too.” said Sally.
“People think slimming means going hungry, eating nothing but salad or obsessively counting every calorie you eat, but it’s not like that at all at Slimming World. I love food and it’s never once felt like I was on ‘a diet’ and I enjoy all my favourite meals like lasagna, hunters chicken and dirty rice, but I’ve learned how to make small changes like using lean meat or cooking with low calorie spray instead of oil or butter. It fits in so well with the rest of my family and we can all eat the same meals. I know that I haven’t ‘gone on a diet’, this is a change that I’ve made for life and I have the tools I need to stay like this forever.” she added.
Shirley Sowersby, who runs the Slimming World group, said: “The changes in Sally are incredible. I hope her success will inspire other people who’d like to lose weight by forming new lifestyle habits and as a result, become happier and healthier to come and join us. There’s a warm welcome waiting at Slimming World and, just think, if you start today you could soon feel like a completely new person, just like Sally.”
The group meets every Saturday at 9am at Emmanuel Church, Cardigan Road, where the Consultant position is vacant, so any current, or past member who may be interested, please get in touch.
