Three friends who met whilst dancing at Michelle Hatton School of Dance in Bridlington have raised over £1,400 taking part in the Great North Run.
The intrepid ladies, Sue Rutter, Sarah Peters, and Dot Alderson have all in some way been affected by cancer and set themselves the challenge of the 13.1 mile half-marathon to raise money for the Candlelighters Cancer Charity.
They named their team Richie’s Runners, in a nod to the cafe where they meet, and are supported by owner Richard Preston.
Said Sue: “We have all trained hard for this event, as we are not runners. Two of us, because of our mature age, have been helped to achieve injury free training from Claire McIlroy at Hutton Cranswick, who specialises in Yoga and Pilates.”
She added: “We are amazed at how our fitness level has transformed and hope it can be an inspiration to others.”
