LAS VEGAS comes to Bridlington as the town looks to feature in a movie….yet again.
Hollywood screenwriter, Richard Shepherd, paid a flying visit to Bridlington to ‘scope’ the area in readiness for filming a movie featuring our very own king of the poker tables John Hesp .
John, 65 became world famous after winning $2.4 million (about £2 million) in the World Series of Poker finals, 2017 in Las Vegas. His trademark jacket and easy-going persona helped John become a huge attraction on the poker circuit. After dozens of TV appearances and interviews from the international media John soon became the toast of the town.
The movie of his now iconic win is now set to be filmed in the town and also in Las Vegas.
Mr Shepherd said: “I wanted to get a feel for John’s home town and the area and incorporate this into the movie.”
Showing him around the town were James Hesp, son of John, and local journalist and writer Judy Broadbent.
Journalist Judy has co-written a book about John Hesp’s life and the fairy-tale win in Vegas.
James said: “As dad was away playing in a poker tournament, it was a pleasure to meet Richard and drive him around the local area.”
