A Bridlington couple are celebrating after opening their own convenience store on the Promenade in Bridlington.
JJs Mini-Mart is owned by James Clabby and his partner Jarrad Hill, and they hope to benefit from the passing trade from guests at the proposed Premier Inn at the north end of the Promenade.
Said James: ‘We have both worked in retail, and really wanted to have our own business. We are initially opening from 7am to 11pm, but are looking at a 24 hour opening operation, which would then lead to further jobs being created.”
James and Jarrad will be a familiar sight to many holiday-makers in the area having worked at holiday parks on the coast, latterly at the Spar on the Haven-owned Reighton Sands.
“We will be selling all the usual foodstuffs such as bread and milk, but also sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, tinned food, vegetables as well as nappies and baby food.” added James.
“We hope that our store will keep people in town, and they can call in late at night to pick up supplies without the worry of having to drive out of town. We are local people, so know how the seasonal trade affects Bridlington, but we offer plenty of stock at very competitive prices.” said James.
