Over the past few weeks there has been reports of strange activity around Buckton Pond, Hoddy Cows Lane and the railway track area in the sleepy coastal village.
A Buckton resident contacted the Echo with details of a large ‘cat like’ animal near the pond and also near to railway lines that run through the village towards Bempton
It is also understood, but unverified, that a farmer had had some sheep mauled in the immediate vicinity.
Bridlington-based paranormal expert Paul Sinclair has been aware of several sightings in the area. He told the Echo: “I have exchanged a few messages with some of the people who claim to have seen it. Some messaged on a Facebook post to say they had seen it in the past. It is interesting that the name of Short Lane came up twice. The road, (Short Lane) is also covered in my first book in connection with the black cat sightings.”
Added Paul: “I have done a few 5am visits to the area of Buckton pond and surrounding area and use monitoring equipment, but I have not seen anything myself. I did however fi nd two dead roe deer. One appeared to have been dead for ages and another one that was killed recently. I also found very strange prints at Speeton about six weeks ago.”
It is understood that the RSPCA have been contacted and that information had been passed on to both the council and the police. Members of the public are asked to be vigilant, especially with anything unusual in the area during the lambing season.
If you have any information regarding recent incidents of sheep worrying in the area please contact police on 101 or message the Echo.
