The fantastic volunteers from Bridlington Round Table have announced that the newly built sleigh will be ready for the Christmas rounds this year.
After months of rebuilding the stunning new sleigh will be unveiled at Tesco on Sunday 25th November between 2-5pm at Tesco on Station Avenue.
It has been 11 months since the group said farewell to the old sleigh that served the town for many years.
Every year during the run-up to Christmas the sleigh, complete with Santa and his helpers, has slowly driven around the roads in the town collecting for local good causes and giving sweets out to children (and adults).
Now, after decades of wonderful service and a couple of refurbishments along the way, the group decided to rebuild a complete new sleigh, thanks to generous help from Tesco.
Sam Berridge, from Bridlington Round Table, said: “The sleigh lit up the lives of many and brought happiness and joy to children across the town. We were sad to see it go.”
Continued Sam: “The unveiling will be a real community gathering with food, drink, Santa and of course the grand unveiling. We would like to say a special thank you to Tesco’s for making this possible with their very generous donation. Also many thanks to P&L Sound & Lighting, ProGRP Roofing, Priory Woodwork and members and friends of Bridlington Round Table who have either donated materials or time to build the new sleigh.”
Giles Baugh, store manager at Bridlington Tesco, said: “After hearing the disappointing news that there would be no lights switch on event in Bridlington this year, we have teamed up with Bridlington Round Table to stage a community event to unveil the new Sleigh. I would like to thank all our customers who voted using the blue tokens in Tesco Bridlington, to enable us to make a generous contribution towards the new Santa’s Sleigh. At Tesco we are always looking at ways to help the local community, and we know how important the Sleigh is to the town. We hope to see you and your family at the event at Tesco Bridlington on the 25th November.
The Echo will publish the dates and routes of the Round Table in the December edition and on our Facebook Page.
