Final preparations are being made for the fourth Flamborough Fire Festival which is billed to be the most spectacular ever.
Festival organisers plan to burn a huge replica Viking Longship at this year’s event which will take place at the New Festival Arena in Flamborough on New Year’s Eve.
After months of hard work the organising team have been building Flamborough’s very first Viking Longship and Festival’s Organiser, Jane Emmerson, tells us that the longship is looking “absolutely resplendent.”
The burning of the Festival’s Viking Longship is just one of the new attractions to this year’s Festival with others being; a ‘Sea of Flames’ which will surround the burning Longship, a Torchlight Procession involving all the Festival’s visitors, even more Flamborough Fireballs in action and a move to the New Festival Arena, on the Village Green to accommodate even more spectators
Battle drums will resound around the Arena and the Festival will be besieged by invaders, led by King Canute wielding his Fire Sword and leading the Battle of Flamborough along with the Great God, Thor with his mighty hammer!
The Festival is encouraging all children, friends and families to take part in the Festival’s new Torchlight Procession and Viking Longship Parade on the night with prizes awarded to the best dressed Vikings.
Jane added: “This year the Festival will be a blaze of fire…it’s going to be an amazing night in Flamborough on New Year’s Eve and we hope everyone will come along and join in all the events along with a Fireworks Spectacular at Midnight.”
The Festival starts at 10.30pm on Monday 31st December 2018, with the Burning of the Viking Longship in a ‘sea of flames’, the Flamborough Fireballs and a Torchlight Procession followed by fireworks when the clock strikes midnight to welcome in the New Year.
