Old Town Festival
June 8th & 9th
The much anticipated 1940’s Festival is billed as ‘A fabulous, free day out for all the family’ with the historic High Street and Kirkgate playing host to the huge array of entertainment.
To kick off the 1040s Festival on Sunday 9th June at 11am there will be an opening Parade from Kirkgate led by ‘Captain Mainwaring’…with a nod to the Dad’s Army film.
One of the organisers, Debbie Atkinson, said: As well as the entertainment there are many stalls with vintage clothing, books, military memorabilia, displays, craft and food”
“There is always a great atmosphere, with many people dressed in the 1940’s style, every year the festival gets bigger and better, attracting thousands of visitors.”
Events include: Fabulous street dancing on Gordon Corner with 1940’s music played by Murray Rose from his vintage Jeep.
1940’s entertainment, all day, on stage, on the Priory Green. Performances from the George Formby experience, Madeline Brown and Tess Fletcher.
Coastal voices and the U3A jazz band performing near to the Market Place junction.
Old Town Open Gardens
The delightful Secret Gardens event gives the public a chance to look behind the doors of houses in the Old Town area and marvel at the wonderful and colourful gardens.
Said Debbie: “Each garden is truly a hidden treasure, many of the gardens people don’t even know exist. A fabulous opportunity to view these wonderful spaces.”
Bridlington Old Town Association would like to say a very big ‘Thank You’ for allowing us to show these hidden treasures. We are always looking for new gardens, so anyone wanting to get involved can get in touch
