Hot footed fundraiser Peter Hutchinson is on his travels again, this time raising money for the mental health charity, Hull and East Yorkshire MIND.
Pete started his 18.5 mile route this morning at 7.30am and will be walking the following route for the next few days wearing a distinctive purple hoodie. He aims to cover over 100 miles in total.
The route is:
Pete had previously completed a series of walks in the summer, raising thousands for the COVID ward at Scarborough Hospital where his mum Jenny Stancliff had been treated for Coronavirus.
He and his nephew Alfie Hutchinson, along with friend Lewis Wilkinson raised over £3,000 by walking a grand total of 110 miles to fundraise for the hospital ward. Pete also donated four hampers to the staff at the hospital.
Said Pete: “This is a massive cause right now. During the Covid-19 pandemic people are not seeing relatives in care homes, not seeing their loved ones and missing those lost to Covid-19. Suicides are on the up due to this and every little will help towards saving lives and helping with mental health issues.”
Hull and East Yorkshire MIND is a registered charity with over 40 years experience of successfully providing mental health services to people across the East Riding. They provide a range of services to ensure that every person experiencing a mental health problem gets the help, support and respect they deserve and through early intervention, help people recover and achieve long term wellbeing. They also campaign to improve services and to wipe out the stigma and discrimination.
Pete has also had generous sponsorship from his friend, boxing legend Tyson Fury and Goldstar promotions. The heavyweight world champion has donated a signed boxing glove which will be the star prize in a raffle which will be held after the walk.
“Join me in making a difference by supporting a really good local cause…any donation will help make an impact. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much.” added Pete
