Bridlington Hospital Maintenance Engineer Franco Villani is celebrating after being presented with the TUC Health and Safety Wellbeing Representative of the Year Award for the Humber and Yorkshire Region .
Franco, who lives in Flamborough, was nominated for his ‘vigilance, commitment and dedication to his fellow workers’ during the months of the Covid-19 pandemic whilst working at the hospital on Bessingby Road – which is part of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
He will go forward to represent the region in the national finals which will be held later in the year.
Said Franco: “I’m accepting this on behalf of working collaboratively with my work colleagues and the Trust. It was the great teamwork that got us through Covid and I would like to dedicate the award to my fellow colleagues.”
John White, from the Unite Union, said: “I am extremely pleased to present the Health and Safety Wellbeing Award to Franco Villani.”
He added: “Franco’s vigilance, commitment and dedication to his fellow workers are exactly the qualities and character that we all need from each other in these unprecedented times and he is a true role model and guiding light for us all. Congratulations and keep up the fantastic work.”
