Over a two week period in May, two schools from Bridlington helped to deliver a ground-breaking beach clean initiative.
The Tigers Trust, which is part of the Sport and Education Trust within Hull City Football Club, partnered Martongate and Our Lady and St Peters schools to raise awareness of single use plastics.
Richard Dexter, the Trust Partnership manager, said: “This initiative aims to increase awareness of single use plastic, and reduce pollution on our beaches, while giving ownership to local children in the area.”
Areas on both the North and South beaches of Bridlington were selected for the beach clean, with dozens of bags of waste being collected during the litter picking afternoon.
Over a hundred pupils from each school took part in the sessions, and more are planned with other local schools during the next few months.
