A Bridlington youngster who excels at sailing has been given a helping hand by the local Round Table group.
Ellis Stonehouse who is 15, has excelled in his sailing career, and from a young age has demonstrated a huge amount of skill.
He started his interest at the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club in Bridlington where he continues to sail.
Over the years he has competed in many country-wide high profile competitions and is now in the position to set his sights higher.
In February, Ellis flew to Thailand to compete in the World Championships in the Dart 18 category.
Sam Berridge, from Round Table said Ellis had approached the club to see if they could help him with costs for sailing gear.
“Ellis asked for help with equipment as the competition demanded certain items in order to compete. With this being his first competition at world standard, we were only too happy to help him and bought him items including a new wetsuit, buoyancy aid and a professional racing watch to keep track of those all important seconds.” explained Sam.
“Ellis is an outstanding young man who’s work ethic, attitude and drive should inspire all his age. We wish him luck we are proud to have supported him in what is undoubtedly the start of a long and successful sailing career.”
