Hundreds of visitors from all over the U.K. and beyond enjoyed birthday celebrations at RSPB Bempton as the centre celebrated its fiftieth birthday.
A specially made cake was created by chefs at Bridlington Spa to celebrate the milestone event. Visitor Jennifer, from Wolverhampton, has been visiting the centre since the mid 1970s. She said: “The centre has got bigger and better every year, but the celebrations for the 50th birthday were the best day yet.”
Other events included a giant ‘pass the parcel’ which involved around a hundred people.
Maria Prchlik from Bempton RSPB, said: “ The Happy Bird-day bash was a corker. The puffin muffins went down a treat and gallons of Puffinccino coffees were sipped on our decking overlooking the meadow. Our Puffin Bird-day Cake, lovingly baked by our friends at Bridlington Spa, was a definite highlight.”
“Another highlight was our giant pass-the-parcel which had around 100 people frantically tearing the recycled brown paper off a package so huge it had to be pushed in a wheelbarrow across the reserve.”
“Thanks to everyone who joined in the celebrations and to all our visitors who’ve supported us over the past 50 years.’ added Maria.
