Super swimmer Charlie Coulam represented Bridlington Swimming Club whilst competing in the British Para-Swimming Championships in Glasgow recently. He achieved 6 out of 6 Personal Bests; the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley, 100m fly, 400m freestyle and 50m freestyle.
A BSC spokesman said: “Charlie did an amazing job as he managed to compete in the finals of the 50m freestyle achieving 6th place and 400m freestyle coming in 8th place.”
“As a club we would like to congratulate Charlie on his performance and wish him every success for the future with any events he may do.”
Charlie’s mum, Rachel, commented: “ He was well supported by his para- talent coaches who helped him with technique and gave him feedback and encouragement after each race. He is now in training for the Summer Championships in July/August which will be held in Sheffield.”
Bridlington Swimming Club recently had four coaches (Kara, Mark, Janet and Rachel) attend Scarborough Sports Village over a long weekend to complete their Assistant Swimming Coaching course.
This involved them participating in classroom work and gathering information about stroke and athlete development. It also involved taking part in tasks in the water. All four of them passed with flying colours . BSC would like to join in congratulating them on a achieving this qualification.
