Thousands of lobsters, crabs, fish and sea animals have been washed up on the beach near Barmston.
This comes after the unprecedented high seas and stormy conditions of the last few days.
One member of the public who was on the scene gave the following account:
“I came across fishermen from Brid and Scarborough. We asked what they were doing as their were a lot of them and they were hauling buckets, trays, sledges etc back to waiting trucks.
They were trying to save as many Lobsters etc as they could by trawling through the debris to find as many live specimens as they were able. These were loaded on to a couple of trucks and were transported to tanks a Brid. If they survive in the tanks they would be put into the sea.
We helped as much as possible but were ill prepared boot and glove wise. We managed to save at least a 100 lobsters. I saved crabs and starfish. There were thousands to go through but we were there a couple of hours.”
