The new owners of one of Yorkshire’s many fine dining restaurants have been overwhelmed by the fantastic feedback they have received since taking over the Blue Bell Inn, Weaverthorpe. Karl and Julia Norton walked into the Blue Bell Inn on a wet, cold day in December 2018 and knew straightaway this was the right place for them.
Said Julia: “We knew this is where we wanted to be. The Blue Bell is not only a pub, but a pub with beautifully appointed guest rooms and a wonderful restaurant.” The couple were keen to retain the traditional favourites on the menu, albeit, with a different twist. “We have introduced more seafood and a few seasonal specials such as Game Goujons and Roast Partridge, we have also put a slightly different take on our ever-popular belly-pork, seabass and steak dishes.” explained Karl. “The Blue Bell is a traditional country inn where a warm welcome awaits all our staying guests and diners. We are also a dog friendly venue. We have a long established team onboard, from the chef, front of house, preparations, the cleaners.
Joined by their daughter, Katie, 17, who works in the restaurant, each plays a vital part in the running of a successful business.” said Karl. Karl and Julia previously owned Circles Cafe and Gin Bar in York which was consistently ranked in the top five on Trip Advisor for the best coffee shop, cafe and Gin Bar. “Since we began our venture in Weaverthorpe we have received more than forty, five-star reviews on the Trip Advisor website, from diners all across the country.
It is such a lovely village and we feel it is a privilege to be part of the community.”
