A well-known Bridlington RNLI supporter who lived next door to the former lifeboat station on South Marine Drive has sadly passed away.
Douglas Twigg, aged 81, was familiar face when the lifeboat was called out having lived next door to the old station for 25 years.
Members of the Twigg family have lived next door to the old lifeboat station since it was built in 1903.
Andy Brompton, RNLI Press Officer, said: “Doug spent many years living next door and got to know many of the Coxswains and crew over the years but built an even closer relationship with the station mechanics.”
“Because of his close relationship to the station we asked Doug if he would lower the RNLI flag for the last time when our lifeboat and crew left the old boathouse for the new station. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Doug’s family.” added Andy.
