Local resident Lyn Avison spotted this unusual sea creature on the South beach of Bridlington today after it washed up with the latest high tide.
Lyn contacted the Echo to find out the exact species, and we got in touch with our Coastal correspondent Matt Barnes, who writes a monthly column for the paper.
Said Matt “It’s definitely an octopus. They are common in the waters off the South of England – but not rare as such. Mostly active during darkness so often seen more by night time scuba divers.”
