Bridlington has experienced one of its busiest ever Easter holiday weekends with thousands of visitors heading to the East Yorkshire resort.
And with one more day of the holiday weekend to come, local businesses are hoping it will be the best start to the season they have encountered.
Many car parks around the resort were full by early afternoon, with restaurants bars and entertainment venues seeing a big increase in footfall over a normal Easter Bank holiday weekend.
Sewerby Hall and Gardens held their traditional medieval jousting event for the first time in two years and saw large crowds descending on the grounds of the stately home.
By lunchtime the car park at Sewerby Hall was full and ERYC were urging visitors to use the overflow parking facility on the clifftop near to Sewerby.
Richard Preston, who is the owner of Richie’s Cafe, South Beach, in Bridlington, said: “Given that it wasn’t beach weather all the same it was as good as it could be for us. I did hear that town was packed, as it should have been. Bridlington was busy, it was a good Easter for Bridlington.”
Though the weather was not quite good enough for sea swimming, several brave souls decided to take a paddle in the temperate waters of the north and south beaches in Bridlington.
Meanwhile, hundreds of spectators saw a floatilla of plastic ducks sent on their way along the Gypsey Race to raise funds for the Bridlington Club for Young People (CYP).
RNLI crew memebers volunteered to wade down the stream, which runs through the playing fields of the CYP, to help any wayward ducks to keep pace with the leaders.
There was also a fun day in the grounds, which was also well attended by locals and visitors to the town.
