Bridlington businesses are being encouraged to brighten the resort this summer as the newly-expanded Bridlington In Bloom group launches its 2026 Business In Bloom Awards.

The volunteer-led group recently became a sub-group of Bridlington Ambassadors, with both organisations sharing ambitions to improve tourism, enhance visitor experience and encourage civic pride among residents and businesses.
Despite limited funding and increasing financial pressures, organisers say they remain committed to helping the town look welcoming and colourful throughout the busy holiday season.

This year’s awards will take a more modest approach, focusing on recognising businesses that showcase attractive floral displays rather than hosting a large awards ceremony. Hotels, guest houses, cafés, bars, shops, offices and other commercial premises with visible frontages are all being encouraged to take part by displaying hanging baskets, window boxes, pots and seasonal blooms.

Martyn Coltman, from the group, said: “What really matters is that businesses show their pride through lovely summer blooms and help create a warm welcome for visitors and residents alike. Even small displays can make a huge difference to the look and feel of the town.”
The awards will be discretionary, meaning businesses do not need to formally enter. However, owners who are particularly proud of their displays are invited to contact the team to ensure they are considered.

There is no entry fee and, instead of trophies, recognised businesses will receive certificates during an informal autumn presentation.
