The news comes after Bridlington motorists were hoping fuel prices would reduce after the cost of unleaded reached £1.97.9 litre at Esso Scarborough Road and £1.96.9/litre at Morrisons on Bessingby Road last month.
The Tesco Superstore filling station, which reopened this morning (August 6), had to close within a short time after it was discovered that there was an issue with the fuel in one of the four sets of forecourt pumps.
Managers at the store are awaiting fuel engineers to arrive and resolve the problem.
The Echo understands that only a small numbers of motorists were affected by the issue before the problem was discovered and the forecourt closed.
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “The petrol filling station at our Bridlington store closed for a short period of time this morning, while we investigated an issue. It has now reopened. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused.”
