Community groups and local organisations across Bridlington, including Bridlington Health Forum, are urging residents to attend a key public meeting in Beverley next week to voice their concern over the proposed closure of the Bridlington Care Unit (BCU) at Bridlington Hospital.

The future of the unit will be debated at a meeting of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Thursday 11 May at 10am at County Hall, Beverley.
The meeting is expected to draw significant interest, with councillors set to question representatives from East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC), the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust over the future of the much-valued care unit.

Campaigners say the session is a vital opportunity for local people to demonstrate the strength of feeling in Bridlington over the loss of the BCU, which many residents see as an essential local health service.
Bridlington Health Forum and other campaign groups are encouraging as many people as possible to attend the meeting in person by sitting in the public gallery of the Committee Chamber. Residents are also being urged to make their views known by watching the meeting on YouTube and showing their reactions while representatives are speaking.

For those unable to attend inside, campaigners are also calling on supporters to gather outside County Hall in Beverley in a visible show of opposition to the proposed closure.
Organisers say a strong public presence—both inside and outside the meeting—will send a clear message to decision-makers that Bridlington does not support the closure of the Bridlington Care Unit.
With the future of local healthcare services at stake, campaigners believe public turnout on 11 May could play an important role in demonstrating the community’s determination to protect services at Bridlington Hospital.
