Bridlington RUFC head into this weekend’s clash with Ripon RUFC, which will be their final home game of the 2025/26 campaign—and could be the match that sends the Blue and Golds up to Counties 1 Yorkshire Division if results go their way.

The table remains tight. Old Otliensians sit at the summit on 79 points, while Bridlington are second on 74, with Roundhegians third on 72. However, it’s a case of “what ifs”, as Bridlington need to focus on their game in hand while looking to secure second place.
Saturday’s visitors have been in good form and have proved tough to score against in recent meetings. They brushed aside Halifax Vandals with a 62–7 victory, before going on to defeat Baildon away from home 20–3.
Bridlington, however, ran out 24–17 victors last time out at Bramley Phoenix, a result that helped them return to second place.

Head Coach Callam Sanderson had this to say ahead of Saturday’s massive game against Ripon:
“We’ve had an outstanding week in training. We’ve had good numbers both nights, and I’ve asked for intensity from the lads—and both sessions delivered that. We haven’t really wasted a minute on the grass, so I think we’ve given ourselves the best chance to go into Saturday full of confidence.
“I think Ripon, I dare say, have been the toughest team we’ve played all season. At their place they beat us convincingly 32–5, and they’ve probably been the toughest side we’ve faced from a defensive and game-management point of view. They’re a side that don’t concede many points, but we’re licking our lips at the challenge to play them on Saturday and repay the favour.
“To be honest, regarding promotion, I just like to focus on what we can control. For us to be thinking about promotion this weekend would mean factoring in results elsewhere, and ultimately that’s not in our control. Our main focus is getting a good win at home first and foremost—but if we can get a bonus-point win, that would be brilliant.”
Kick-off is at 3pm at Dukes Park.
