East Riding of Yorkshire Council and partner organisations will be hosting a range of activities throughout Carers Week. These events aim to engage and support carers of all ages, provide information, and create opportunities for connection.

A carer is anyone who provides unpaid support to a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help. This can include caring for someone with a disability, long-term illness, mental health condition or age-related needs.
Carers come from all walks of life. They may be adults supporting partners or parents, parents caring for children with additional needs, or young carers helping to look after a family member.
Carers Week 2026 takes place Monday, 8 to Sunday, 14 June and focuses on the theme ‘building carer friendly communities’ highlighting the importance of recognising carers and ensuring they are supported and valued in their local areas.

There will be events taking place in Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Goole, Haltemprice, Hornsea, Pocklington, Market Weighton, Withernsea, Stamford Bridge, South Cave, South Holderness, Ryehill, Welwick and Bubwith. For more information contact the Carers Support Service and see the council’s social media for the latest.

Councillor Jonathan Owen, cabinet member for adults, health and care at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: ‘’While caring roles are invaluable, they can also have a significant impact on everyday life, including work, education, physical health and emotional wellbeing.
