Officers form ERYC will be visiting all properties within the Bempton area over the next few days to offer advice after the village fell within a newly introduced Avian Influenza Protection Zone.
ERYC have introduced a 3km protection zone on government advice after the highly contagious avian influenza, more commonly known as bird flu, was detected within a flock of poultry.
A Governemnt statement said: “Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Bridlington on 28 August 2022.
“All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.
“A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone are now in place around the premises.”
Local vets Aldgate, who have practices in Bridlington and Driffield have also given timely advice to owners.
Lucy, one of the Aldgate Practice Directors, said: “We strongly urge any poultry or captive bird keepers to be cautious and not take risks during the avian flu outbreak. It’s important that they follow the advice in the guidelines.”

“If you keep poultry, caged birds, or pigs within this area, please contact ERYC.
