It was a case of ‘Friends Reunited’ as two delightful donkeys renewed their long-time friendship after moving to a paddock at Sewerby Hall & Gardens.
Daffodil, pictured left, met up with her pal Princess and they immediately nuzzled each other and let out contented sighs of approval as they were brought together for a long-awaited meeting in the courtyard of the hall.
Rob Nicholson, who is known as Farmer Rob after his many appearances on TV, travelled from Cannon Hall Farm, near Barnsley and brought over Daffodil to reunite with Princess.
John Pickering, head zoo keeper at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, said: “We have recently acquired a new donkey from Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley, as featured on television recently. Our new arrival is called Daffodil, who has been able to renew her great friendship with Princess here at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
“Both donkeys knew each other at Cannon Hall Farm, and were very friendly there. It’s really good that they have been reunited; they are just loving running around and playing together once again.”
Daffodil has been retired from breeding, and will enjoy excellent care and a happy retirement at Sewerby.
John Pickering is particularly excited to be looking after more donkeys, as his uncle used to have the donkeys on Bridlington beach.
The donkeys are now a firm favourite with staff and visitors alike, and attract regulars to their paddock to see how the four-legged friends are getting on.
