Motorists are being advised to use an alternative route to get to Sewerby village after a three day closure of the railway crossing commenced today.

The Sewerby Road crossing is scheduled to be closed until 10th August for routine maintenance works.

Diversions are in place, but motorist are urged to use the main roads rather than drive through nearby housing estates.

Suggested alternative routes are along Martongate (B1255) and turn right into Sewerby village on Church Lane (Marton Hall corner).

It is understood that pedestrian access is still available, however this will be under the direction of the contractors.

All Sewerby attractions and businesses remain open as normal.
