A Bridlington resident has spoken of her shock after her dog was ‘whacked around the head’ by a man on North Beach.
Karen Cammish was enjoying Sunday afternoon (8th October) on the beach with her granddaughter and her two dogs – where they have a beach chalet.
She explained: “There were lots of people about and lots of dogs running about off leads. As we were returning to our chalet one of my dogs – wagging her tail – approached a man who looked to be collecting something from the beach along with a female – presumably his wife.
“He straight away whacked my little dog around her head twice, (not lightly). She came back to me straight away.” claimed Karen
“I shouted to him to not to hit her and he asked me to repeat what I’d said so I did. He then told me to clear off and take my dog with me.”
The episode comes after a similar incident at the Sewerby Park Woodland Walk where a spaniel was kicked in the head by a man who is said to fit the description of the person on the beach.
Karen continued: “I know some will say she shouldn’t have gone to him, but he could have pushed her away or turned away himself, no need to whack her when she showed no aggression only friendliness.”
Anyone with any further information or who has encountered a similar situation is asked to conatct police on 101 The incident happened between 1-1.30 pm yesterady afternoon (8th October).
