Dog owners are being reminded that seasonal beach restrictions are now in force across parts of Bridlington along with areas in Hornsea and Withernsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

From today – May 1, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has reintroduced its annual Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), banning dogs from designated sections of popular beaches for the next five months. The restrictions will remain in place until October 1, when full access is restored.

In Bridlington, the ban applies to North Beach between the northern end of North Marine Promenade and the north-eastern face of the North Pier. On South Beach, dogs are prohibited between the southern face of the South Pier and the eastern face of Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall. Hornsea and Withernsea are also affected.
Dog owners found breaching the rules risk a fixed penalty notice of £75. Council officers will patrol affected areas throughout the summer.

The seasonal restrictions are brought in each year to help keep the busiest stretches of coastline clean, safe and welcoming for families and visitors during the peak holiday season.
