Have you have looked skywards after hearing a high pitched honking noise in the last few days…?
If so, it is likely to be one of the many flocks of thousands of pink-footed geese which are currently putting on a noisy but delightful display during their annual flypast over the Bridlington area.
Bird watchers are busy looking to the skies as the autumn migration is now in full flow with the volunteers at Flamborough Bird Observatory counting almost 5,000 geese flying over that specific area in one day.
The geese have arrived from the Arctic region to spend the next few winter months in East Yorkshire.
Many birds will remain here for the winter, usually around the banks of the Humber whilst others will head further south.
Next Spring, they will take the long journey back to their breeding grounds in northern Scandinavia, Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland.
The birds travel inland from their overnight stay on the banks of the River Humber to feed and rest in the fields around the Bridlington and Wolds area.
