Two Sewerby residents are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for a national heart charity by walking just over 26 miles in a day.
Isabel Richardson and her partner Tom Draper, will be pounding the footpaths and beaches today (27th March) for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and as well as collecting, they also hope to raise awareness of the charity.
“I came up with the idea a year ago to raise money for a charity during the first lockdown, and then Tom came up with the idea to fundraise for the BHF in memory of his dad – Chris Draper – who sadly passed away just over two years ago in December 2018.” said Isabel.
Tom, who is the assistant head gardener at Sewerby Hall & Gardens, already undertakes a lot of exercise with his job and can often be seen walking around the coastline during his daily exercise.
Isabel continited: “Tom and myself like to do a lot of walks around Flamborough and Bridlington. I love walking and I think I take after my grandma because she has always loved walking.
“Previously, I have done three long walks to Barmston and back, via Flamborough Lighthouse, and its always been around 26 miles…I can’t have a day without a daily walk.”
The hot-footed duo are hoping to finish their challenge at around 4.pm at Thornwick Bay to lay flowers in memory of Tom’s father. Sewerby.
