Believe it or not there is an entire day dedicated to fish and chips… and in Bridlington and the surrounding that’s very appropriate as there are well over a hundred fantastic fish and chip shops and outlets.
Today, June 3, is officially National Fish & Chip Day.
Over 200 million portions of what is regarded as Britain’s national dish are sold in British chip shops every year.
Launched in 2015, today (June 3) is a day of recognition for the nation’s favourite meal.
Plus, it also celebrates those who work hard within the industry to make sure it’s a snack or a meal that we can enjoy on the go or in a cafe or restaurant.
It’s also important to acknowledge the hard work and effort that ensures your fish and chips are ready for you to enjoy. So well done to all those involved.
This year, National Fish & Chip Day is extra special – as it would be unfair to overshadow The Queen on during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, National Fish & Chip Day was celebrated a week early on May 27. – but has led to calls to have town Fish & Chip days so the good news is that there will be two Friday’s to celebrate a great British dish.
