Support your local businesses on Shop Local Saturday…

Shop Local

The Bridlington Echo, in conjunction with local shopkeepers, traders and businesses, has launched a Shop Local campaign which will help to encourage residents and vistors to explore and spend in the huge range of diverse retail outlets that Bridlington has to offer.

Bridlington already has lots to shout about – the historic harbour and Georgian architecture in Old Town as well as the stunning beaches and delightful countryside.

But what holds our community together is the wonderful mix of shops, restaurants, pubs and multitude of traders that make our town so unique.

Local businesswoman and entrepreneur Angela Langton has already made a huge impact on footfall to the town by launching monthly Food Festivals on King Street – the latest one being last Sunday (19th November) in conjunction with the Christmas Lights switch- on performancedby local TV personality Peter Levy.

“What makes Bridlington really special is the diverse range of independent shops and small businesses as well as the regular markets,” said Angela.

“Local people are full of support for the town, and they recognise the struggle traders have been going through over the past few years. Many do support our businesses by spending locally.

Angela added: “It’s a pleasure to be part of the town – my family have traded here for decades before me. It would be fanatstic if locals and visitors support all the local businesses instead of travelling out of town to shop or going online.”

“Bridlington is a great place with so much community spirit, so let’s hope that really shines through in the run-up to Christmas and on into next year.” added Angela.

With Christmas just round the corner, The Bridlington Echo’s Shop Local Campaign is urging everyone to really make these next few weeks count… if you don’t use it, you lose it.

Small businesses make about 30 to 35 per cent of their money at this time of year, so it’s crucial that customers visit our shops and buy their food, present, gifts as well as eating out and socialising locally.
