Beachgoers and dog owners have been warned to be careful after jellyfish have been washed up on local beaches.
Recently, a species of jellyfish known for its painful sting has been found along the coastline near Bridlington.
Several Lion’s Mane jellyfish have been discovered washed up on Barmston beach, posing a potential threat to beachgoers as their sting can cause pain and discomfort.
A dog walker has reported that his dog had sniffed and licked a jellyfish which subsequently resulted in his pet instantly reacting by coughing, retching, and drooling.
According to the owner his dog ‘improved somewhat after about an hour, but was not well.’
The occurrence happens occasionally around this time of year, along the shores of the east coast, and swimmers, beachgoers and dog owners have been warned to be cautious after several incidents over the years.
