Following a suggestion from a local Bridlington business owner, a meeting was held to move forward on the
concept of re-introducing the Business in Bloom Awards for Bridlington,
for summer 2025.
The following categories were agreed by the bloom committee:
- Best Retail / Commercial
Premises. - Best Hotel / Guest House
(under 10 beds & over 10
beds). - Best Hospitality Business
- pub / cafe / cafe bar /
restaurant, - Best Industrial or
Commercial Unit on an
industrial estate/space up
to 5m frontage & over 5m
frontage. - Best Visitor Attraction –
small & large. - Best Health or
Community Business.
There will also be discretionary awards of; Best Overall Business Award, Most Sustainable Planting Award and a ‘September Splash’ Award for businesses that maintain their floral improvements through into
September.
Entries need to be in by 30 June 2025, with judging during the first two weeks of July.
A spokesman said: “No astroturf or artificial flowers are allowed – natural planting only.
“Colour is not necessarily the most important criteria. It’s what is best suited to the location. Judges decision
is final. All categories will have winner, runner up certificates and winner will
receive a trophy to display for a year.
Entrants from within Bridlington and District (including surrounding
areas of Sewerby, Carnaby,
Bessingby & Marton).”
An Awards Evening is set to be held at the Bridlington Spa in mid-late September. All shortlisted entrants will be invited, with a guest. Tea, coffee & light refreshments will be provided.
Donations welcome towards cost.
