Bridlington RUFC travel to Yorkshire Counties 2 Northern Division strugglers Ossett RUFC this Saturday.
The Blue and Golds will be in high spirits after last week’s demolition of Halifax at Dukes Park, which saw them run out 59–3 victors to cement their place at the top of the table.
The last meeting saw Bridlington narrowly run out 35–31 winners at Dukes Park, but with confidence high in the Sanderson camp, Bridlington will be looking to extend their points advantage at the summit.
Bridlington have a strong record on the road, with their only defeat coming against Huddersfield Laund Hill in early November, losing 42–13.
Ossett’s last two games were before the Christmas break, when they lost 27–16 to Halifax RUFC before being heavily beaten 60–5 by Bridlington’s fellow title contenders, Old Otliensians. However, Ossett will be hoping to kick off 2026 on a positive note.
Sanderson had this to say ahead of this weekend’s away clash:
“I don’t think we can take Ossett lightly, especially given their league position.
“Despite the fact that we’re a bit higher up the table than them, it will definitely be a challenge.
“We’re high in confidence after that emphatic win over Halifax last week, and I think that was our best attacking display.
“Hopefully we can keep building on that each week and continue to improve in attack.
“Preparation has gone really well this week, particularly on Thursday. We’ve shown a lot of intensity and managed to boost the squad slightly. We welcome Will Watts home after travelling in Asia and Australia, so he’s back on the bench this week.
“We’re looking strong, although we do have some absentees, with Joe Nellist being away, so we’re thankful to have plenty of depth in the front row.”
