A former rock music photographer who has swapped life behind the camera for the world of publishing is inviting readers to discover the story behind her unusual career at a special event in Bridlington.

Published author Marmalade Atkinson will be appearing at Mighty Lancer Games on King Street on Saturday, 16 August, from 11am to 2pm, for an entertaining author talk, book reading and signing session.
The free event offers visitors the chance to meet a real-life local author, hear how she made the leap from photographing rock stars to writing fiction, ask questions about her creative journey and have copies of her debut novel personally signed.
Marmalade’s first book, The Sleepless Nights of the Boy with No Eyelids and Other Twisted Tales, has already found many readers across the UK. Blending dark humour, eerie storytelling and striking artwork, the collection has been praised for its unique style and imagination.

The event is being hosted by Mighty Lancer Games, the family-run hobby and gaming shop owned by Nathan and Emma Long, who are celebrating the business’s 10th anniversary this year.
Nathan said: “We’re delighted to welcome Marmalade to the shop. Supporting local authors and giving people the opportunity to meet someone with such an interesting background is exactly the kind of community event we love to host.”
As well as the author talk at 11am, visitors can enjoy a book reading before meeting Marmalade during the signing session from midday.

Whether you’re an avid reader, an aspiring writer or simply curious to hear the remarkable story of a local rock photographer turned published author, the event promises an entertaining and inspiring afternoon.
