Mystery surrounds the circumstances as to why a damaged car has been left abandoned for weeks next to a main route into Bridlington.

Several readers have contacted the Echo asking why the car has been left for so long on the side of the road without it being removed.

The white Ford Ecosport is fully road taxed until June 2025 and has a current MOT certificate.

Despite ‘police tape’ around the vehicle, it has been left next to a bus stop on the A165, next to the Bessingby village junction.

After contacting The Echo, one man said: “ It has been there for ages and it’s not really something you want to see as you head to and from Bridlington.”

“What sort of impression does this give to the thousands of visitors to the town… and it is in such a visible position. The car is easily recoverable, and the police are aware, so I don’t know why it hasn’t been removed.”

An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson has said:

“The abandoned car has been reported to the council and our officers visited the site this week.

“We expect the owner and the insurance company to arrange recovery.”
