Bridlington Lifeboat has been the recipient of funds raised by two groups in the town.
Medlock, who are the main building contractor for Bridlington’s new 82-bedroom Premier Inn on the Promenade, have donated money to the local station.
Builders, along with sub contractors who are working on the project, decided while they were on the site they would try and raise money for a local charity.
Tom Wheeler, Medlock Commercial Manager, and Shaun Brannan, the Site Manager, decided to help raise money for the RNLI Lifeboat in Bridlington.
Lifeboat banners were placed on the scaffolding as the hotel started to rise and those working on the site put money in collection boxes and bought various lifeboat gifts.
David Garnett Lifeboat Administration Officer and Bob Taylor Chairman of Fund Raising were invited to the site to receive a cheque for the fantastic amount £1,602.33 from Tom Wheeler and Shaun Brannen.
Students from the East Yorkshire College in Bridlington have once again worked in conjunction with Richard (Richie) Preston of Richie’s Cafe Bar to help raise money for the Bridlington Lifeboat.
The students organised and hosted a second Quiz Night including a raffle and food was kindly provided by Richard. The event raised a magnificent £474.81 for the RNLI.
Andy Brompton from Bridlington Lifeboat said: “We are immensely thankful to Medlock and also the students and staff at East Riding College for all their support and efforts in raising money for the Bridlington RNLI….. it does mean a lot to us.”
