The Bridlington Old Town Gallery have announced a forthcoming exhibition entitled ‘Heading Home’ from local artist Steve Carvill.
Steve is credited with the fantastic Gansey Girl Sculpture on the North Pier of the harbour, and is a locally and nationally renowned artist and proud Bridlington resident. He brings a new collection of paintings to the monthly featured exhibition space hosted by The Old Town Gallery at 45 High Street.
Said Steve: “Like many people I have spent much of my working life away, but nothing quite matches that feeling of joy and relief when I get onto a train or into a car and head back to my lovely home town.”
He added: “My working life has been very varied, split between being an artist and designer working on nationally significant projects and a local art teacher, trying to encourage people into the enriching world of art and design. A recent development is a new
Artist Residency at Thorpe Hall and I am most excited about the prospect of working in that beautiful environment.This is a new phase, it’s time to take stock and return to some of the inspirations which first fired my imagination as an artist, being back here is very important for that.”
Steve is also a watercolourist, in addition to being such an accomplished sculptor. His exhibition officially opens on Thursday February 1st and runs throughout the month. The Old Town Gallery is recently refurbished, and now a significant gallery within
Bridlington’s characterful and unique Georgian High Street.
The gallery is a not-for-profit social enterprise which also features 18 full time artists, craftspeople and sculptors and is an official Tourist Information Point for the Old Town.
